Dear Doctoral Degree Recipient:
Congratulations on reaching the final stages of completing your doctoral degree!
Each year the Graduate School solicits the views of those students completing their doctorate to learn of the quality of their academic and student life. Your responses will not only help us in our assessment of individual programs, but also help us identify some of the successes and challenges you have faced. We use this information to update and modify programs, as appropriate, to ensure a high-quality educational experience for our graduate students.
The survey is short and should take you approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your participation in the survey is entirely voluntary and you may exit the survey at any time. You may skip questions you do not wish to answer.
You will have to authenticate using your U-M uniqname to access the survey. The authentication will allow us to draw information from the U-M data warehouse on your doctoral program, date of degree completion, gender, race/ethnicity and citizenship status. Once these data have been extracted, your uniqname will be removed from the data file. All responses are confidential. Responses will be presented in summary reports in aggregates of sufficient size so that individuals cannot be identified (e.g., responses summed over time intervals, presented by school/college or program). The reports will be used by administrators and staff of the Rackham Graduate School as well as for program review. The data will be stored in a repository for future research. Some of the data from this survey may be shared with other institutions for comparison purposes through the Association of American Universities Data Exchange. No information that would identify survey participants will be shared.
We deeply appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey. Your participation is crucial to our efforts to improve the graduate experience for future students.
If you have questions about the survey, please call Merle Feldbaum at Rackham at (734) 764-4400 or e-mail email@example.com. If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, or wish to obtain information, ask questions or discuss any concerns about this study (HUM00021682) with someone other than the researcher(s), please contact the University of Michigan Health Sciences and Behavioral Sciences Institutional Review Board, 2800 Plymouth Rd.
